Knee

Knee joint discomfort is a common issue among almost everyone. Problems in your knee joint can be caused by a variety of factors, including a ligament rupture, meniscal tear or cartilage defects or may be the beginning and consequences of arthritis. Treatments for knee pain range from conservative nonsurgical care to minimally invasive knee surgery and knee replacements.

Symptoms of Knee Disorders:

  • Trouble weight bearing or walking or limping due to discomfort, due to knee instability
  • Difficulty going up or down steps due to ligament injury (sprain)
  • Knee joint locking (unable to bend the knee)
  • Edema and redness or repeated swellings
  • Inability to fully extend the knee
  • Transferring weight to the knee and foot on the opposing side Link

Treatment for variuos knee problems:

Arthroscopy and Knee

It can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of knee ailments, including torn anterior cruciate ligaments torn or posterior cruciate ligaments,
meniscus tears (the cartilage between the bones in the knee), dislocated patella, loose fragments of torn cartilage in the joint, Baker’s cyst, bone fractures in the knees, synovial swelling (the lining in the joint) etc.

ACL reconstruction

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament in the core of your knee that needs to be repaired. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament
that joins the shin bone (tibia) to the thigh bone (femur). During physical exertion, a tear in this ligament might cause your knee to give way, most commonly during side-step or crossover movements. Tissue is taken from one’s own knee cap tendon or hamstring tendon or may even be acquired from a donor.

Tibial osteotomy for osteoarthritis of the knee

Patients with osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative arthritis) of the knee endure gradual wear and tear of the menisci and articular cartilage, leading to tears. Popping, catching, locking, clicking, and discomfort are all symptoms of degeneration of these tissues, which inhibits the knee’s ability to glide freely.
The surgical procedure known as the high tibial osteotomy realigns the knee joint. By preserving damaged joint tissue, this operation can delay or prevent the need for a partial or total knee replacement in some patients with knee arthritis. An osteotomy can also be used in conjunction with other joint preservation treatments to allow cartilage repair tissue to grow without being put under too much pressure.

Recurrent dislocation of the patella

Recurrent Patellar Dislocation occurs when the kneecap slides out of place. You may need reconstructive surgery if the medial patellofemoral ligament on the inside of the knee rips as a result of patellar dislocation. This usually occurs if your legs are bent inwards from the knees or if there is a rotation of the thigh bone or leg bone.
One such surgical process that can help the situation is MPFL reconstruction.

Meniscal tears

Most common in athletes, a meniscal tear occurs when you forcefully twist or rotate your knee, while putting your full body weight on it. If it doesn’t get better with conservative treatment – like ice, rest and medications – then surgical repair needs to be considered. In our country, meniscus injuries are very commonly noticed following road traffic accidents.
